HSV-2
HSV-2, or herpes simplex virus type 2, is a sexually transmitted infection that primarily affects the genital area. It causes genital herpes, characterized by painful sores or blisters around the genitals or rectum. HSV-2 can also cause flu-like symptoms during initial outbreaks and can recur periodically throughout a person's life. While there is no cure for HSV-2, antiviral medications can help manage symptoms and reduce the frequency of outbreaks.
